How the rooms work
A solid 7×7 of long crossing words is a different construction from a 5×5, and I did not want to publish one I could not check by hand. This grid is checkable. The middle row and the middle column are black. Each corner is three across words of three letters, and those same three words read down. In the first layout, top left is SOB, ONE, BED. Top right is YES, EYE, SEA. Bottom left is TIP, ICE, PEA. Bottom right is APE, PAL, ELM. The second layout swaps the rooms left to right. Use the selector above the board to choose either version. If a down word ever disagreed with the across word, the square would be wrong. Here they agree.
Boston Globe Sunday is also 7×7, but it is their puzzle, with their constructors, and the archive is for subscribers. The Times midi is 9×9 or 11×11 in Beebom’s description, not 7×7. I am using 7×7 as a size, not as a claim that you are playing either of those products.

Questions
Why do across and down match?
Each corner is a word square. That is the design, not a glitch.
Is this the Globe Sunday mini?
No. Same size on one day of their week, different words, and theirs is not reprinted here.
