A login, not a subscription essay
The Globe and Mail’s puzzle page puts Jess Shulman’s name on the Globe Mini and asks you to log in to play. That is a different door from the Guardian, which says no account, and a different door from the Times, which says a paid games subscription. “Free after login” is the phrase I am willing to use. I am not upgrading it to “no account,” and I am not downgrading it to “paid,” because the page did not put a price on the mini itself.
An archive is part of what the page and a secondary games write-up both describe. Neither one gave me a count of days or years. I will not invent “90 days” or “since 2019.” The archive cell says yes. The depth cell stays empty.
Toronto’s midnight
Daily Games to Play places the turnover at midnight Eastern and reminds you the newsroom is in Toronto. The Globe’s own template, in the notes I kept, did not spell that clock, so it remains one secondary source. Midnight Eastern in Toronto is the same Eastern zone the Times uses for a different hour. Do not borrow the Times 10 p.m. rule and paste it onto Shulman’s puzzle.
Square count and clue count were not in the sourced fields, so I am not calling this a 5×5. Our home puzzle is a 5×5 with no login. If you specifically want Shulman’s clues, use the Globe page and sign in there. This page will not reprint them.
